That's the gist of the method, but of course, that's a tad over-simplified. You can read all about it on the Pomodoro homepage, and there's a free e-book, too. But even from my brief description, you can probably see a timer is an essential part of the system. And this is where Pomodroido comes in.
It's a beautiful app (literally - it's easy on the eyes), which simply counts down 25 minutes, and then gives you a five-minute break. The duration is configurable, so if you like longer breaks or longer "bursts" of work, you can set that easily.
It also tracks how many "pomodoros" you've successfully completed (a pomodoro is aborted if you're distracted), and gives you awards for doing well. My personal favorite feature is that you can have it continuously emit a ticking sound while the timer is running, just like a kitchen timer would. That's an essential part of the technique, and it really helps me stay focused (it's difficult to forget the pomodoro is running - you can constantly hear it in the background).
The best part is that, because it's on a mobile device, I can get up and walk away from my workstation during the breaks, and still know when to come back to continue working - so the breaks really do feel like breaks.
Speaking of breaks, you can find the QR code right after the break.
