Have an Optimus 3D or LG Thrill 4G (the U.S. version on AT&T)? Here's news you'll love -- Ricardo Cerqueira, an Android hacking mastermind when it comes to high-end LG devices, has released a new version of his "Almost CyanogenMod 7" ROM today. Why the "Almost" tag? Ricardo explains thusly:
This early release is based off the current CyanogenMod code, but unlike CM its components aren't public yet, so you can not build it yourself. Since being able to roll your own is a core feature of CyanogenMod, I prefer to think of this as something close to CM, but not quite CM.
If you're using an LG Thrill 4G, go download it now from the source link. If you're using an Optimus 3D, you'll need to have the Gingerbread baseband installed (unlike the previous version of Almost CM) so you'll need to flash the current stock ROM from the LG Updater tool, then re-root your device. That sounds like a bit of a headache, and it is, but it's well worth it as the new baseband brings along an impressive speed boost from HSPA+ networks.
This should tide us over until CM9 and Ice Cream Sandwich gets cranked out for the Cosmopolitan. Go slow, read everything, and be sure to visit the forums if you have any questions.
