When I hear "smash the castle" and "physics game," the first thing that comes to mind is another one of those trebuchet-launching, Angry Birds-style games where you shoot a projectile from the side of the screen onto an unseen target, trying to hit it with the correct angle and velocity in order to wreak just the right sort of havoc.
This is why I was in for a surprise with Sieger. It was also billed as a "smash the castle" game, but I was surprised to discover that it's a "first-person smash the castle." You shoot the castle from the front, which is much, much more fun!
It's closer to a puzzle than a physics game, actually. The shots are incredibly accurate; you never miss - you just pinpoint whichever point on the castle you wish to hit, click, and boom!
That, in itself, is very satisfying. But then the question becomes, "where exactly should I hit to inflict the most damage?" And that's a fun question to answer, indeed!
Progress is rapid; I moved through the first 10-15 levels very quickly, with each level taking just one try. Around level five, you get a new projectile (called "diseased head," I believe) which is toxic and kills surrounding personnel. There are also hostages, which you must not kill. It's definitely a fun little game! Now, where's the Android version?
Sieger is a fun, original smash-the-castle game -- Time-Waster originally appeared on Download Squad on Wed, 13 Oct 2010 13:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
